Conell throws shutout, hits two homers for Hastings

HASTINGS 6, WHITE BEAR LAKE 0: Treya Connell not only threw a shutout with 13 strikeouts, but also hit two solo home runs for the Class 3A, No. 5 Raiders in their Suburban East Conference victory over the Bears on Thursday.

HILL-MURRAY 2, SOUTH ST. PAUL 1: Junior Sydney Fabian hit a two-run homer in the first, and that was all the offense the Pioneers would need in beating the Packers in the Classic Suburban.

NEW LIFE ACADEMY 5, MARANATHA 0: Rebekah Schmidt is the most dominant pitcher in Class 1A. The senior threw a no-hitter while striking out 14, leading the three-time defending state champion Eagles past the No. 9 Mustangs in the Minnesota Christian Athletic Association.

VISITATION 2, CONCORDIA ACADEMY 1: Sophomore Anne Debertin went 3-for-3 and drove in both runs, giving the Blazers a Tri-Metro victory over the Beacons. Winning pitcher Sarah Otto, a seventh-grader, threw a four-hitter while striking out 10. She lost her shutout when Jaci Fagen hit a solo homer in the bottom of the seventh innings. Losing pitcher Kayleigh Sellner allowed five hits while fanning 13.
