Wolfpack upsets No. 1 Blaze

EASTVIEW TOURNAMENT: The Wolfpack opened the season losing three of their first five games. It has  since righted the ship. Park of Cottage Grove upset Class 3A, No. 1 Burnsville 1-0 Saturday afternoon to win the eight-team tournament in Apple Valley. Winning pitcher senior Cassie MacArther limited the Blaze (13-1) to five hits. Eighth-grader Rachel Suter scored the lone run on a throwing error in the first inning. The Wolfpack (10-3), winner of eight in a row, beat host Eastview 5-2 and Eagan 4-3 to reach the finals. Sophomore Mary Turitto hit a three-run homer against Eastview, while senior third baseman Courtney Mills went 4-for-4 with an RBI in the Eagan victory.

BLOOMINGTON KENNEDY INVITATIONAL: Bloomington Kennedy junior Shannon Rodriguez threw her third complete game of the day, a 6-0 shutout over Class 1A, No. 2 New Life Academy in the championship game of its own six-team tournament at Dred Scott Field in Bloomington. In the three games, Rodriguez gave up only one earned run.
