Connell tosses a no-hitter for Hastings to claim Suburban East title

HASTINGS 2, STILLWATER 0: Treya Connell was at her best with the Suburban East Conference title on the line Monday. The senior threw a no-hitter while striking out 13 as the Class 3A, No. 3 Raiders (16-2) shut out the Ponies (15-4). The only thing that prevented Connell from a perfect game was a dropped third strike that allowed a runner to reach first base.  Connell was hitting her spots and kept the Stillwater hitters off balance throughout the game.

HOPKINS 6, EDINA 0: Junior Morgan Nybo hurled her fifth shutout of season, a three-hitter with nine strikeouts as the  Class 3A, No. 6 Royals shut out the Hornets in the Lake. Senior Hayley Nybo, Morgan’s sister, belted a solo home run.

LAKEVILLE NORTH 7, ROSEMOUNT 6: Senior Katie Englund delivered a run-scoring bases-loaded single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, giving the Panthers a victory over the Irish in the South Suburban. It was Englund’s third hit of the day.

TOTINO-GRACE 7, SPRING LAKE PARK 0: Erica Meyer won her 17th game with a 17-strikeout performance, leading the Class 3A, No, 17 Eagles past the Panthers in the North Suburban. Nicole Rogers powered the offense with a home run, double and two RBI.
