Farmington may have won the Class 4A title last year, but Prior Lake reminded the Tigers who the reigning South Suburban Conference champion is in a shutout win.
Kailey Ahlstrom tossed a complete-game shutout with 13 strikeouts, leading Prior Lake past Farmington 4-0 Wednesday at Daggit Field at Prior Lake High School.
The Lakers were never really threatened by the Tigers (4-1, 3-1), scoring in the first, third and fifth innings.
Ahlstrom, the Lakers’ senior ace who is committed to Middle Tennessee, gave up just two hits and three walks. Though she had a pair of errors committed behind her, she allowed just one runner to get to third and one more to get as far as second.
Farmington’s Rebecca Silber nearly matched her, scattering eight hits and walking two, while striking out seven and limiting damage in what could have been big innings for Prior Lake (6-0, 5-0).
Prior Lake’s Alexandra Pinkowski was 2-for-4 with two runs and a double, while Jocelyn Kirk was 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI. Abby Sagert finished 2-for-2 with a walk.
Farmington’s two hits came from Taylor Jasper, who had a single and a triple.
