Fans' Choice for Top Performer

Eliya Johnson, Coon Rapids: Johnson has been a force in the Coon Rapids lineup and put together a huge week as her team won five games. She hit three home runs and drove in 15 runs in the stretch, which included a five-RBI outing in Coon Rapids’ 11-8 win over Blaine on April 30.

Megan Baniecke, Forest Lake: The Rangers are undefeated and Baniecke has been a big reason why. The senior pitcher dealt a gem of a performance in a 3-2 win over Park of Cottage Grove on May 2, allowing two runs while striking out seven. Baniecke put in work at the plate too, as she batted 3-for-3 with two home runs and six RBI in an 8-2 win over White Bear Lake the next day.

Tori Tollefson, Chanhassen: Tollefson has been a hitting machine for the Storm, as she’s tallied more extra-base hits than singles this season. The sophomore, batting .515 through 10 games, went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and two walks in a 13-4 win over Chaska on April 30. Two outings later, she went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and four RBI in a 10-0 win over Bloomington Kennedy.

Grace Gall, Eastview: With a 9-2 pitching record this season, Gall has played a huge role in Eastview’s success. The senior pitcher turned in three impressive performances last week. Gall allowed one run on five hits while striking out 11 in an 8-1 win over Rosemount on May 2. She then struck out 11 more in a complete-game shutout win over Maple Grove a day later. To cap the week, Gall notched 17 strikeouts in a 4-3 win over Hopkins on May 5. Gall ranks fifth in the state with 87 strikeouts recorded.

Afton Zemke, West Lutheran: Zemke has been piling up strikeouts in bunches this season — almost two per inning — and was solid in four starts last week, when she struck out 44 batters in a combined 24 ⅔ innings. Her ERA sits at 1.99 on the season.
