Fans' Choice for Top Performer

Sarah Hudson, Buffalo: Hudson's productive senior season continued last week, as she recorded 15 RBI in five games. Hudson got the week started by batting 3-for-3 with a home run and five RBI in a May 7 win over Brainerd. In a doubleheader split with St. Michael-Albertville the next day, Hudson was 4-for-5 and drove in eight runs.

Top performer candidates

Lauren Pederson, Moose Lake-Willow River: Pederson has been a force for the Rebels this season, and she’s become one of the state’s leaders in home runs (7) and slugging percentage (.959). The senior infielder went 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk and two RBI in a 9-7 win over Mora on May 8. She then batted 3-for-4 with two home runs, a stolen base, two runs scored and five RBI in a loss to Virginia three days later.

Abigail Lien, Eastview: Lien was a driving force behind Eastview’s five-win week, in which she recorded at least one RBI and one run in each game. The senior catcher/infielder went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in a May 7 doubleheader sweep of Burnsville. She added another home run, two more runs scored and two more RBI in a win over Apple Valley the next day. Lien saved perhaps her best for a May 9 win over Lakeville South. She finished 3-for-4 at the plate and had a double, three RBI, three stolen bases and two runs scored.

Annabelle Schutte, St. Louis Park: Schutte has been a bright spot for the Orioles all season and had her share of strong performances last week. The senior pitcher struck out 19 batters over seven shutout innings to get a May 12 win over Barnum. Schutte also batted 2-for-4 with an RBI in the victory. She struck out 11 while giving up three runs in a loss to Richfield on May 7 and didn’t allow an earned run in six innings in a win over Chaska two days later.

Abbey Gapinski, Rochester Lourdes: The senior pitcher didn’t allow a hit in five innings in the Eagles' May 7 win over Rochester Century. Two days later, she allowed just two runs on four hits while striking out four in a 3-2 win over Zumbrota-Mazeppa. She then allowed five hits and one earned run in a win over Kasson-Mantorville on May 10.
