Athletes are considered for the top performer poll only if their stats are entered on the MN Softball Hub by 10 a.m. on Sundays. If any coaches or members of their coaching staff would like to be set up to enter stats, please email mnhubs@sportngin.com.

Fans' Choice for Top Performer

Alyssa Denneson, Orono. Denneson made three starts last week — all resulting in wins  — for the Spartans and was excellent in each one, but she was particularly good in her first two outings. She allowed one run on five hits while striking out 10 in a 3-1 win over Delano on May 15. She also allowed two runs (zero earned) while striking out six in a complete-game win over Hutchinson on May 17.

Top performer candidates

Abby Sagert, Prior Lake. Sagert had a huge week at the plate to help keep the Lakers rolling. The senior catcher went 1-for-3 with a walk and three RBI in a win over Burnsville on May 14. She was even better two days later, going 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and six RBI in a 20-12 victory over Lakeville South.

Anne Fossum, Northfield. The Raiders went 3-1 last week and Fossum’s contributions were a big reason why. The sophomore catcher went 2-for-4 with two RBI in a victory in the first game of a doubleheader against Owatonna on May 17. She was even better in the second game, going 3-for-5 with six RBI. She stayed hot to end the week, going 2-for-2 with two RBI in a win over Rochester Century a day later.

Megan Osterhaus, Burnsville. Osterhaus rebounded nicely from her worst start of the season with two terrific outings last week. The senior pitcher allowed three runs (two earned) while striking out seven in an eight-inning loss to Shakopee on May 16. She then picked up a win over Edina on May 18 after allowing one hit and striking out 12 on her way to a complete-game shutout.

Lydia Lecher, Concordia Academy. Lecher, one of the state's most prolific hitters, was a tough out again last week as the Beacons won three games. Lecher went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in a win over St. Croix Prep on May 15 and backed up that performance by going 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and five RBI in a win over Columbia Heights the next day.
