Faribault and North Branch made their first state tournament appearances memorable by climbing into the Class 3A title game, and with a 2-0 victory over the Vikings, the Falcons captured their first state championship.

Each team also earned three all-tournament team selections, which were announced following the state tournament. The all-tournament teams are selected by coaches attending the event.

Faribault's McKayla Armbruster was dominant in all three games, pitching a no-hitter in a quarterfinal win over Bemidji and allowing one hit to North Branch in the title bout. Both were complete-game shutouts for the junior, as she finished the tournament with a 0.33 ERA, 37 strikeouts and one walk.

Bre Bresnahan went 3-for-9 and drove in three runs and Allison Schak hit a tournament-best two home runs while going 7-for-11 at the plate in three games. The pair round out the Falcons' contingent who earned the honors.

North Branch pitcher Sam Pederson also turned heads at the tournament, finishing with a 0.39 ERA, 27 strikeouts and two walks. Cassandra Sinn and Amber Yoch proved their worth at the plate: Sinn hit 5-for-9 and Yoch went 4-for-10. Both players brought in three runs in the tournament.
