North St. Paul's first impression to onlookers at Caswell Park on Thursday was a lasting one.
The Polars scored four runs in the top of the first inning on Brainerd and rolled to a 6-1 Class 3A quarterfinal victory.
Angie Jackson finished with two RBI for North St. Paul, which is playing in its 11th state tournament. Junior Tabitha Bayers struck out 13 batters through six innings but got into trouble in the seventh by loading the bases. Carley Pickett came in to finish it out, striking out two.
Nikki Anderson struck out seven for the Warriors.
